How do the Family Balances pages work in MusicTeacherNotes?

The Family Balances pages let you view and track how much each family owes you or the credit balance they have with you. This helps you stay organized with your student billing and payments.

Viewing Balances

• If you teach at multiple studios, use the drop-down menu to select the studio you want to view.
• The list will display all families for that studio.
• A yellow exclamation mark icon indicates families with no transactions yet—these may be students you need to add lesson charges for.

Adding a Payment

• Click the dollar sign icon next to a family’s name to quickly add a payment.
• Enter the payment details and submit.
• The page will reload to show the updated balance.

Viewing Detailed Balances

• Click a family’s name to see a detailed page for that family.
• This page shows all transactions and how each one adjusted the balance.

Setting a Starting Balance

• On the detailed page, you can set a starting balance.
• This is useful if a family owed money or had a credit before their first recorded transaction.

Editing or Deleting Transactions

• Click the student’s name in the row of a transaction to edit or delete that transaction.

The Family Balances pages make it easy to monitor account status, process payments quickly, and maintain accurate financial records for your music studio.
