Hello! My name is Caolan and I am an actor and musician based in London. Upon graduating from RADA, following a move from my native Tyrone, I won the prestigious Carleton Hobbs Award and spent 5 months with the BBC Radio Drama Company. As an actor and musician I have performed in numerous theatre productions from the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company to London's West End. In 2021, I completed a West End run of Amelie the Musical playing Hipolito and Elton John. This led to the recording of the Original London Cast album which earned me a 2021 Grammy nomination as a principal soloist and pianist for “Best Musical Theatre Album”. I subsequently joined the Recording Academy’s voting panel. On screen, I have appeared in Kenneth Branagh’s Oscar-winning feature film, Belfast, playing the role of “Uncle Sammie”. I am a mutli-instrumentalist with vast experience in composition, arrangement, recording, and direction. I am an international contemporary piano coach and a member of RADA’s audition panel. In 2023, I released my debut EP of original music, “Paper and Stone” which received critical acclaim and national airplay on BBC Radio. Receiving streams from over 100 countries, 2 of the tracks were subsequently selected to feature on Café Nero’s official in-store playlist. I am passionate about music, story, and education. My expertise is in teaching contemporary styles such as Blues, Country, Pop, Rock and Soul, not based on sheet music, but on chords. I am passionate about approaching music with the ears, not the eyes. My experience in improvisation, compostion, song-writing and arrangement has honed my personal teaching style in a contemporary way placing the emphasis on chords, harmony, theory and ear training. I look forward to beginning your musical journey with you.
