Lesson Journal

The lesson diary allows parents, teachers, and students to store a record of skills assigned during a lesson. Because you own the account, it can be a permanent online searchable history of every song that students have been assigned to practice during music lessons. The Lesson Diary is linked to the Practice Plan Creator, which means that parents and student can generate a practice plan from assignments that have been added to the Lesson Journal. Both teachers and parents can add items to a student’s Lesson Journal.

Log Practice Time

When a parent or student generate a practice plan, students can log their practice on their own student account. Even children as young as 4 can enjoy a child account that allows them to log practice and earn rewards. When younger students log their practice, the time they log helps them earn Music Bucks, which is a big part of our reward system to help motivate young kids to practice their music.

Practice Planner

One of the biggest frustrations that parents experience with music lessons is that it is a challenge to motivate their children to practice. The Practice Plan Creator permits older students or parents of students to set goals for the skills they need to practice. Create practice goals from previous lessons, repertoire songs, and even custom skills, so students have a structured guide to practice from!

Practice Achievement Awards

Students earn rewards like Music Bucks and Perfect Practice Awards when they meet their practice goals. Achievement Awards are designed to help encourage younger kids to want to practice so parents do not need to force them to. Achievement Rewards help get young kids to practice more and argue less.

Music Bucks

Music Bucks are a pretend currency that kids earn when they practice their music from their practice plan. Parents create a practice plan after a music lesson by with the Practice Plan Creator. Kids can spend their Music Bucks on things that parents designate as rewards. Ideas might be a dinner at their favorite restaurant, a movie night, a new video game, or whatever parents think is appropriate to help motivate their kids to practice. Music Bucks helps get kids to practice a lot more, accelerating their learning from every lesson.

Personalized Child Accounts

Children as young as 4-years-old can have their own parent-supervised account. No email is required for accounts that do not need parental privileges. Children can have their own account with age-appropriate privileges and a kid-friendly look and feel. Child accounts emphasize Music Bucks and Achievement Awards, so young kids are more motivated to practice.

Video Uploading

Parents upload videos to their Private Library, or they can access videos that their teacher uploaded and shared. For example, a parent or student can use a cell phone camera to video their teacher playing a song on the piano, or whatever instrument they are learning. Then they can upload that video to their account so they can see how the song is supposed to be played. Uploaded videos can be clipped, looped, sped up, and slowed down, making practice many times more productive than without video.

Enhanced Video Playback Controls

Videos can be slowed down or sped up to a suitable tempo so students can play along. The speed control feature maintains the original pitch of the song so it still sounds normal as the speed of the video is changed.

Clipping videos allows students to practice the parts of a song they need to work on, over and over. For example, if a student needs to work on just a few measures of a song, they can clip that part of a video and play it again-and-again, so they get a lot of repetition in a short amount of time.

You can create several clips at a time so you can quickly generate several video clips for students to practice. It takes just a few minutes.
